Acceleration
I drive a Tesla.
One of the main reasons is the acceleration.
It’s not about the top speed for me.
It’s the 1.9 seconds from 0 to 60.
Because that’s what I feel.
Not the steady cruising.
Not the miles per hour I can’t sense.
But the surge when the pedal drops.
Life is like that, too.
We become accustomed to the pace at which we’re moving.
We stop noticing the velocity.
We don’t feel the speed.
But every shift, every sudden change, gets our attention.
A turn we didn’t expect.
A quick stop.
An unseen pothole.
Sometimes, we measure by the jolt and not the journey.
And yet, the miracle is God’s steady hand.
It’s carrying us even when we don’t feel it.
Faithfulness beneath every mile.
Mercy in every stretch of road.
How many things has He kept me from that I didn’t even know about?
How many times was His presence my only strength,
and I was too consumed even to realize it?
The psalmist says, “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds” (Psalm 36:5).
Maybe wisdom is learning to thank God not just for the accelerations that shake us awake, but for the steady grace that never stops moving us forward.
