I was a songwriter long before I wrote my first blog.
There is still something special to me about writing songs. For me, whether it is a song or a blog post, it usually starts with ideas.
Little strings of ideas.
A phrase. A melody. A thought I wrote down somewhere and nearly forgot. A moment that stays with me long enough to become something more.
It is kind of like a patchwork quilt that I assemble from various parts into one final piece.
The pieces do not always make sense at first. In fact, they rarely do. They come from different places and different seasons. Some are beautiful. Some are rough around the edges. Some only make sense after I have sat with them for a while.
But eventually, they begin to connect.
And in the end, it is usually difficult to find the different parts unless you know where to look.
God is much the same.
Think about your past. How many different paths did it take to get you to where you are standing today?
The conversations you almost did not have.
The doors that closed.
The places you left.
The disappointments that redirected you.
The people who showed up at exactly the right time.
At the time, they probably felt like separate pieces. Some may have felt like mistakes. Some may still be hard to understand.
But God sees the whole thing.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 NKJV
Maybe the story of your life is not as random as it feels.
Maybe God has been assembling something all along.
