Not every day is your favorite day.
Some days are just rough.
You know the kind. The kind of day when you hope nobody asks, “How’s your day going?” because you are not sure whether to tell a camouflaged story or tell them the truth.
“Fine” is a lot easier response.
But honestly, I have had plenty of days that were absolutely not fine.
Days when work was not fun. Days when somebody disappointed me. Even more days when I disappointed myself. There were days when the phone call came that I did not want. Sometimes nothing particularly terrible even happens. It is just one of those days where everything feels wrong.
But I have learned something.
Those days usually do not last.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28 NKJV
I used to read that as though God was promising to make everything good.
That is not what it says.
Some things are hard. Some things hurt. Some days really are bad days.
Testimonies always start with a test.
They usually don’t start with triumph but its how they end that makes them a story worth telling.
Faith does not require me to enjoy every day. It just reminds me not to judge the whole story by one bad chapter.
Tomorrow may not be perfect either. But today does not get the final word.
