Beavers vs Bureaucracy
I read a story this week that stayed with me.
In the Czech Republic, officials spent years trying to restore a protected wetland.
Engineers identified the right locations.
Environmental experts agreed on the outcome.
But permits slowed things down.
Land ownership complicated everything.
Progress stalled.
Then the beavers showed up.
Without plans or approvals, they built a series of dams in the exact places experts had already marked as ideal.
Local zoologists said it took a night or two.
Normal behavior for beavers.
The wetlands returned almost immediately.
A project estimated to cost millions was completed for free.
Before anyone resolved who owned what.
One official even admitted the animals chose the locations better than humans ever could on paper.
I keep thinking about that.
Because a clear vision moves things forward.
Confusion slows everything down.
There is a difference between preparation and hesitation.
Between discernment and delay.
Between stewardship and control.
Scripture says God is not the author of confusion.
And yet we are remarkably good at creating plenty of it.
Too many voices.
Too much fear of making the wrong call.
Too much time protecting ground instead of restoring it.
The beavers didn’t debate their purpose.
They responded to it.
So today, if you find yourself searching for solutions
stuck in indecision
buried under what ifs
Be like the beavers.
Stop overthinking the ground beneath you.
Do what comes naturally to who you are.
Trust the instincts God placed in you long before the questions showed up.
Not every step needs consensus.
Not every move needs certainty.
Sometimes clarity comes after motion.
Sometimes obedience looks like action before assurance.
And sometimes
doing what you were made to do
is all it takes to cross the finish line.
