Again and again, I’ve watched the same story unfold.
Someone steps into a job, a church, a relationship—
and almost instantly starts naming what’s broken.
They don’t pause to understand the why.
They just begin listing all the ways it could be better
They’re sharp. Insightful. Passionate, even.
But where they came from wasn’t great; after all, they left.
And after a while, when they realize they can’t fix their new garden,
They uproot.
And off they go.
To the next job.
The next church.
The next person.
Chasing something that feels just out of reach.
The perfect soil.
But here’s the truth that keeps humbling me:
Sometimes, I’m the one who’s off.
Sometimes, the change that’s most needed… starts with me.
Honestly, I’ve tried to fix the very places that God was using to fix me.
The ground wasn’t rocky. My expectations were.
I’ve learned that growth doesn’t demand perfect conditions.
It demands humility.
Staying when I want to run.
Listening when I’d rather lead.
Realizing that my first instinct isn't always the correct one,
And maybe I am not seeing the whole garden, only my section.
God does His deepest work, not in the transplanting, but in the staying.
So if you’re restless today,
take a breath before you pack your bags.
Ask the more complicated question.
Is this the wrong place…
Or just an uncomfortable one?
You might not be where you wanted to be.
But you might be precisely where you’re meant to be.
Bloom anyway.
If this encouraged you, would you share it with one friend who might need it too?
