Choice
It may be the most beautiful
and the most dangerous gift
God ever placed in human hands.
Choice.
He could have scripted obedience.
Removed risk.
Eliminated the possibility of rebellion.
He didn’t.
Because love that cannot choose
cannot love at all.
The wonder of choice is this:
Every day we get new ones.
If the direction I am headed is wrong,
one single decision
can turn it around.
Not ten years of penance.
Not perfect performance.
One honest turn.
I have watched a single apology restore what pride almost destroyed.
A single act of courage redirect a drifting life.
A single yes to God interrupt years of slow compromise.
Deuteronomy says,
“I have set before you life and death… now choose life.”
Not once.
Daily.
I cannot change yesterday’s decisions.
But I am not trapped by them either.
The next step is still mine.
And that is grace.
Today I will choose with clarity.
Not because I always get it right.
But because I am not powerless.
One choice at a time,
a life is built.
Or rebuilt.
