Every Good and Perfect Gift
My friend Kevin has a story that still humbles me every time I hear it.
When a tumor ruptured his stomach,
he almost bled to death in his own bed.
By every measure, he shouldn’t be here.
But he is.
Some would say it was the chemo.
The surgeons.
The timing.
The medicine.
Some might even say luck.
But Kevin says it was God.
And he’s right.
Because God created all of it.
The science.
The skill.
The wisdom.
The very elements that make healing possible.
God set it all in motion.
We like to categorize things.
Miracle or medicine.
Supernatural or scientific.
But God does not divide.
He designed.
James wrote, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
Every single one.
The chemo that worked.
The doctor who stayed late.
The nurse who whispered a prayer.
The peace that came in the night.
All of it was God’s doing.
So yes, Kevin can say,
God healed me.
Because He did.
He used medicine,
but the mercy was His.
He used doctors,
but the power was His.
Every good and perfect gift
still flows from Heaven.
So the next time someone tries to stop your thanksgiving,
just remember who made the cure, who gave the breath,
and the One who wrote your story.
