FOCUS
I came across an old photograph this morning.
It was taken on a 35mm camera.
My dad always had one close by, always snapping pictures of whatever caught his attention.
To be clear, my father was a terrible photographer.
The photo I found was wildly out of focus.
The background was sharp.
The people who mattered were not.
Family stood in the foreground.
Blurry.
Almost incidental.
That image stopped me.
Because it raised a question I don’t ask often enough.
What am I focused on?
What consistently holds my attention?
What fills the frame of my thoughts?
What stays sharp in my mind while the important things slowly fade?
Focus is rarely about what’s present.
It’s about what I choose to see clearly.
Life doesn’t lose meaning all at once.
It slips out of alignment.
One small adjustment at a time.
Until the background becomes the subject.
This morning felt like an invitation.
To refocus.
To bring what matters back into clarity.
To let fewer things demand my attention.
To make sure the people I love are never treated like scenery.
Some things don’t need a wider lens.
They need better focus.
If this resonated, I’d be grateful if you shared it.
Someone in your circle may need this reminder today.
