In the Beginning
“In the beginning God created…”
Genesis 1:1
The Bible does not open with advice.
It opens with authority.
Before there was breath in our lungs
or ambition in our chest
or anxiety about tomorrow
There was God.
Creating.
He did not react.
He initiated.
He spoke, and reality answered.
Light did not negotiate.
Oceans did not vote.
Stars did not resist.
They simply obeyed.
I read that this week and felt small in the best way.
Because I spend a lot of time trying to create outcomes.
Trying to engineer momentum.
Trying to control what only God can call into existence.
Genesis reminds me
I am not the author of the universe.
I am part of it.
Created things are powerful.
But they are not sovereign.
We build companies.
We grow platforms.
We shape influence.
And slowly, without meaning to,
we start to believe the story begins with us.
It does not.
It began with Him.
And that changes everything.
If He created light from nothing,
He can create clarity in confusion.
If He formed order out of chaos,
He can do it again in me.
Creation was not just an event.
It was a declaration.
God is first.
Not my plans.
Not my opinions.
Not my fears.
God.
The story started before me.
And it will end beyond me.
But today, I get to live inside it.
And that is the great gift.
