It’s Not Easy Being Green
The Grinch didn’t start out mean.
He started out different.
Different enough to feel watched.
Different enough to feel misunderstood.
Different enough to assume rejection before it arrived.
That kind of loneliness can harden someone.
When you feel out of place long enough, joy starts to look suspicious.
Families that laugh feel fabricated.
Peace feels fake.
Hope feels like a personal insult.
So criticism becomes safer than connection.
Sarcasm replaces honesty.
Distance feels like control.
It’s not easy being green in a world that celebrates red and white.
But the quiet turn in the story matters.
The Grinch didn’t change because someone corrected him.
He changed because someone included him.
No argument.
No explanation.
Just a place made at the table.
I’ve learned this
hurt people don’t always want answers.
They want belonging.
And Christmas still whispers that truth every year
to anyone willing to hear it.
