January Is Honest
January doesn’t pretend.
It doesn’t arrive with momentum.
No applause.
No proof that anything has changed.
Yesterday is still close.
The same thoughts.
The same responsibilities.
The same questions waiting on the edge of the day.
I’ve never been much for New Year’s resolutions.
The changing of the calendar invites reflection, and it should.
It asks us to consider where we’ve been and where we’re headed.
But resolutions are often loud and short lived.
Real change is quieter than that.
New beginnings rarely announce themselves at midnight.
They show up the next morning.
When motivation is low.
When nothing feels new yet.
This is where honesty lives.
Before results.
Before progress.
Before we feel different.
Daily faithfulness is how change is made.
Small decisions repeated without fanfare or social posts.
Choosing the next right thing when no one is watching.
Trusting God one ordinary day at a time.
January doesn’t ask us to be impressive.
It asks us to be willing.
And that is enough to begin again.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9
