Just Stand
Lately, everything sounds like a call to arms.
Fight harder.
Push back.
Take ground.
Every issue framed as a battle.
Every disagreement treated like an enemy.
Every moment demanding reaction.
I understand the language.
There are seasons when resistance matters.
When silence would be surrender.
When standing up means stepping forward.
But not every moment calls for a charge.
Not every challenge deserves pursuit.
Some moments ask for a different kind of courage.
The courage to stand.
Paul writes,
“Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.”
2 Corinthians 10:3–4 (NIV)
That reminder feels timely.
Our battle isn’t against people.
It isn’t against ideology.
It isn’t fueled by outrage or force.
And it isn’t won by volume, pressure, or public display.
Paul reminds us what faith often looks like in practice.
To stand our ground.
To remain rooted when the ground shifts.
And after everything has pressed in,
to still be standing.
With time and a little gray hair, I’ve learned this.
Strength doesn’t need a stage.
Conviction stands without crowd approval.
Peace isn’t afraid of a little pressure.
There’s a maturity that comes with not needing to respond to every provocation.
A confidence that doesn’t rush to prove itself.
A steadiness that trusts truth to hold its own weight.
Jesus carried authority.
He had all the power.
Yet He didn’t chase every challenge.
He didn’t answer every accusation.
He didn’t mirror the anxiety of the moment.
He stood steady.
He spoke clearly.
He moved when it mattered.
Faith doesn’t always advance.
Sometimes, it stands.
And refuses to be moved.
If this resonated, share it with someone who feels the pressure to always react.
Sometimes the strongest witness is simply standing firm.
