Songwriting has always been my first love.
I wrote my first song in 4th grade.
To sit at a piano with only a feeling, and hear it turn into melody and lyric, still feels like a miracle.
The wonder is when the song reaches another heart.
When the emotion I felt in the writing is felt again by just listening.
That’s the gift of music.
It doesn’t just speak.
It transfers.
A song can carry joy.
It can carry sorrow.
It can hush a room into silence.
It can lift weary hearts and make them feel light again.
And years later, a few notes of a melody can take you back in an instant.
To a summer.
To a heartbreak.
To a holy moment you thought you’d forgotten.
Maybe that’s why God wrapped worship in music.
Because music does what words alone cannot.
When we sing, truth lingers longer.
When we sing together, faith feels stronger.
When we sing to Him, heaven feels nearer.
My son Caleb recently posted something so true.
”Do you want to change the atmosphere in your home? I want to challenge you with something simple but powerful: turn on worship music in the background and just spend time with your family.”
God created music as a gift to us.
It’s powerful when we give it back to Him.
There is power in a melody.
It reminds us where we’ve been.
It points us to where we’re going.
And in worship, it becomes more than art.
It becomes an offering.
It becomes a catalyst in your home.
So take Caleb’s advice.
Turn off the TV. Put down your phone.
Turn on worship music.
And watch the atmosphere change!
