Not My Will
Too often, my praying is more about giving direction.
“God, do this. God, fix that. God, open this door.”
But when prayer becomes instruction, it slips out of faith and into control.
Jesus gave us a different pattern:
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Not my will.
Not my plan.
Not my control.
There is a reason He also said some things only come by prayer and fasting.
Not because fasting makes God stronger.
Not because prayer convinces Him to act.
But because it gets me aligned with Him.
And yes, God still performs miracles.
But He is not a parlor trick.
He does not exist to validate my plans or impress a crowd.
Prayer is not about control, but that does not make it powerless.
God hears.
God answers.
God moves.
Sometimes He heals.
Sometimes He provides.
Sometimes He makes a way when I cannot see one.
And other times, His answer is to give me strength to walk through the valley instead of out of it.
The miracle is not only in what He does, but that He listens at all.
The God of heaven bends His ear toward me.
That is no small thing.
Every miracle carries the same purpose.
To glorify His name.
To draw hearts closer to Him.
To show His kingdom breaking into our broken world.
Prayer bends me toward that reality.
It teaches me to seek His glory over my personal desires.
It reminds me that faith is not forcing God’s hand.
It is opening mine.
Even if He does not fix this situation,
I still submit to His will.
