Nothing New
As I write each morning, I’m reminded that ideas don’t come on command.
They find me somewhere in the middle of life.
A line from a song.
A conversation in passing.
A simple moment that catches me off guard.
Most of the time, the thought isn’t new.
It’s ancient, really.
Something that’s been spoken before, lived before, and written before.
Ecclesiastes says there’s nothing new under the sun.
And it’s true.
The same truth that guides me today guided kings, prophets, and fishermen centuries ago.
What changes is the world we’re standing in.
The culture around us.
The echo of voices pulling us in every direction.
The hurried pace we’ve learned to call normal.
Yet every generation still holds up the same truth and finds fresh revelation in it.
That’s not about originality.
It’s about insight.
Truth doesn’t change; our perspective does.
Not unlike seeing a city from the ground is much different than seeing the same city from an airplane.
God keeps showing us fresh angles of the same eternal truth.
That’s why I don’t chase new ideas.
I just try to stay awake.
To notice how a familiar verse suddenly feels personal.
How a timeless message becomes super relevant
to what I am walking in this very moment.
How an old truth finds its way into a new season.
The world around us keeps shifting,
but our foundation never has.
It’s still speaking,
still shaping,
still breathing life into ordinary days.
Because the same ancient truth that guided generations before me,
still settles on my soul, fresh like the morning dew.
Gentle, new, and full of life.
