Rest
I think many of us live with so much internal noise that we eventually mistake it for normal life.
Fear.
Striving.
Restlessness.
The pressure to control outcomes.
The exhausting belief that everything depends on us.
And over time, the soul grows tired.
Not all at once.
Slowly.
Worn down by carrying burdens we were never designed to carry alone.
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The world offers distraction.
Comfort.
Temporary escape from the weight we carry.
But Jesus offers something deeper.
Rest.
The kind of rest that reaches deeper than circumstances.
Because peace is not found in having complete control over life.
Peace is found in surrendering control to the One who already does.
That made me think...
Maybe that’s why the peace of God “surpasses understanding.”
Because it often makes no logical sense.
The bills may still exist.
The uncertainty may still exist.
The responsibilities may still exist.
But somewhere in the middle of all of it, the soul finally stops fighting for survival.
There is a stillness that comes from trusting God completely.
A person no longer trying to perform their way into worth.
No longer hiding.
No longer pretending.
No longer carrying tomorrow before it arrives.
Just resting in the presence of God.
And maybe that’s why, after years of internal chaos and constant noise...
real peace can feel deafening.
