Rooms I Leave Behind
Rooms I Leave Behind
We constantly breeze in and out of spaces.
Most of the time, without even thinking twice.
But every encounter we have leaves something in its path.
Every space I enter tells a story.
And every space I leave does too.
I struggle at times, just like everyone else.
Some weeks leave a mark.
And if I’m not careful, that mark shows up in my daily encounters.
It takes intention to stop carrying what I’ve been through into the next room.
Lately, I’ve been paying attention to that moment right after I walk out of a room.
What lingers?
Every word leaves a ripple, even the ones that felt small when I said them.
Every expression tells a story, even when I thought no one was watching.
Did I leave peace, or did I leave tension?
Did people feel lighter, or did they think smaller?
My words hang in the air longer than I realize.
My tone.
My presence.
Even my silence.
I can walk into a room and feel when peace has lived there.
I can also sense when pride or fear has been present for too long.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you.”
He didn’t just talk about peace.
He carried it.
He left it.
That’s what I want too.
To bring peace into every space I enter.
And most importantly, to leave it behind when I go.
📖 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.”
— John 14:27
