Safe
One thing I’ve come to know over the years
is that people who don’t say much
find a lot of agreement.
It’s easy to be liked
when there’s nothing to disagree with.
I write about 22 pieces a month.
That’s a lot of words.
And I try to be careful with them.
I’m not chasing controversy.
That’s never been the point.
I’m trying to build people.
Give something steady to start the day.
Something that lifts instead of pulling us into whatever the day is pushing.
And I mean this honestly…
I’m always going to do my best
not to offend or turn people away.
But even with that…
I still get messages.
Disagreement.
Pushback.
Sometimes people reading something I never meant to say.
At first, that got to me.
Made me second guess.
Made me consider pulling back
just enough to stay comfortable.
But over time, something became clear.
The only truly safe path
is no path at all.
Say nothing,
and you’ll offend no one.
Take no position,
and you’ll face no resistance.
But you also won’t help anyone.
Because anything worth saying
has edges.
Truth has edges.
Growth has edges.
Even encouragement can land wrong
depending on where someone is standing.
So I’ve made peace with it.
I’ll keep writing with care.
I’ll keep checking my heart.
I’ll keep trying to say things the right way.
But I won’t say nothing.
If I’m going to speak,
I’m going to be misunderstood sometimes.
If I’m going to write,
not everyone will agree.
That’s part of it.
I’m not aiming for safe anymore.
I’m aiming for honest.
And if honest creates a little tension,
maybe that’s not failure.
Maybe that’s where it starts to matter.
If this resonated, share it with someone who needs the reminder.
