I tend ti spend a lot of time thinking about the future. Probably more than most.
In business, especially in the tech sector, you have to think several steps ahead. Sometimes I think I would rather not know.
I believe that over the next three years, advanced AI and robotics could move so far ahead of us in intellectual work that the gap might resemble the gap between man and dogs. In the 10-15 year outlook, this could likely become comparable to man and an ant. That’s a sobering thing to consider when you have spent your life being paid for what you know.
I think about my grands. What will work even mean for them? Things I spent many years learning will be things they never need to know.
There are great advantages coming. Great risks, too. I am excited and concerned, sometimes in the same conversation.
But then I think about the man Jesus described who built his house on sand.
He built something he thought would last. Probably, he put a lot of work into it. But when the rain came, all that effort rested on something that couldn’t support it.
The man who built on rock got rain, too. Remember that.
Jesus said the wise man heard His words and put them into practice. There are things that I can work on today, even with all my unanswered questions about tomorrow.
We can’t control the future. We can’t control the rain.
But we can control what we build our lives on.
The foundation will make all the difference, no matter what the future holds.
