The Great Divide

Division is a business.
It writes headlines.
It wins elections.
It keeps us hooked on fear.

But it is more than politics.
It is spiritual.

The oldest lie still works.
Your neighbor is the problem.
Your differences are a threat.
The wall between you is safer left standing.

Paul wrote it another way.
“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility” (Ephesians 2:14, NIV).

He was speaking of Jews and Gentiles.
Two peoples divided by history, culture, and law.
But Christ broke through the wall.
His cross made one family where two once stood.

And that truth has not changed.

The world keeps building barriers.
Jesus keeps tearing them down.

If He can remove the wall between us and God,
If he can span the mighty gulf between Hell and Heaven,
He can tear down the barrier that separates me from my brother.

So today I have to choose carefully whose voice I believe.
The voice that sells me fear.
Or the voice that speaks peace.
