There’s a growing movement today that says the power to transcend is already within us. That a hidden light lives deep inside, and we simply need to uncover it. That Jesus came not to save us, but to serve as our example and coach.
Over the years, I’ve come to know Jesus in many ways.
The gentle teacher.
The wise guide.
The inspiring example.
And there’s truth in all of those.
But when life caved in on me, I needed more than someone to inspire me.
I needed someone to rescue me.
I didn’t need help finding my “higher self.”
I needed saving from myself.
Because I couldn’t fix what I’d done.
That’s when Jesus stepped in.
He offered more than wisdom.
He brought salvation from certain death.
He loved me so much that He died to give me life.
And he was calling me to unconditionally place my life in His hands,
because He knew the way home was one I could never find on my own.
Jesus said it plainly:
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." — John 14:6
Lord, keep me from remaking You into something more appealing to my ego.
Remind me that You are not only my teacher and example
but most importantly my Savior and King.
When I’m tempted to look inside myself for answers, bring me back to You.
You don’t just have the answers. You are the answer.
If this encouraged you, would you share it with one friend who might need it too?
