I was in a hurry.
Slipped on my sneakers, no socks.
“It’s just a quick stop,” I told myself.
Five hours later, I was suffering through a lunch meeting.
My feet were feeling like I was dancing on hot coals.
Every step is a regret.
By the end of the day, I practically needed a crowbar to get my shoes off…
and my dignity with them.
All because of one small thing I thought didn’t matter.
It’s never the dramatic failures that derail us.
It’s the almost-nothings.
The details we dismiss.
The decisions we delay.
The discipline we think can wait.
One skipped check-in.
One unspoken conversation.
One day without time alone with God
One habit left unguarded.
Being intentional is a lot like wearing socks with sneakers.
Often invisible.
But when it’s missing,
You notice.
Now I pack a spare.
Socks, yes.
But attention.
Because in leadership and life, that little thing that you ignore now
might be what makes you miserable a few steps down the road.
If this encouraged you, would you share it with one friend who might need it too?
