What Makes God Sad
In the days of Amos, Israel looked alive.
The altars were crowded.
The songs were loud.
The festivals were full of light and sound.
Sound familiar?
But beneath the worship
was a nation that had forgotten mercy.
The poor were ignored.
The powerful cheated the weak.
The people brought their offerings,
but not their love for their brother.
So God spoke through Amos,
and His words cut deep.
“I hate, I despise your feasts;
I take no delight in your assemblies.”
— Amos 5:21
It wasn’t the music or the rituals that made Him sad.
It was the distance between their worship and their actions.
They sang about holiness while stepping over the hurting.
Then comes the verse that still echoes through time:
“But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream.”
— Amos 5:24
That is the sound God longs to hear.
A river that never dries up.
A faith that moves, touches, and flows
into the places where life has grown dry.
What makes God sad
is not the riotousness of the world.
It is when His people sing louder than they love.
When their ritual is more important than their repentance.
When the hands lifted in praise never reach toward the hurting.
God is not impressed by volume.
God is not honored by the show.
He is moved by mercy.
He listens for justice and righteousness
in the same way we listen for melody.
Authentic worship does not stop at the altar.
It keeps moving like a river through the city,
carrying grace to every dark and lonely street it can reach.

Most wonderful God, truly we are so blessed knowing how to make Him happy. We have Him by just ❤️ Him and His word is the only thing today that remains authentic.
