Where God Isn't
Cold isn’t real. It does not exist. Not really.
Science teaches that cold is what’s left when heat leaves the room. It’s only a measurement of absence.
Same with darkness. It’s not its own force. It’s what’s left when light can no longer reach in.
And evil?
Maybe it’s not a rival power.
I believe that it’s what fills the space when God is pushed out.
We treat morality like a social contract, as if right and wrong are community inventions. God is goodness. It’s not just an attribute; this is His very essence.
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” (James 1:17, NLT)
So goodness has a source.
And when we remove that source
from our homes,
from our schools,
from our culture,
from our own hearts…
We shouldn’t be surprised when the horrible things creep in.
If the furnace goes out, we don’t blame the frost.
If the sun sets, we don’t curse the night.
Want warmth?
Light?
Goodness?
