Where You Stand
I was in Florida this week.
A chilly morning by their standards.
Wind cutting through just enough to make me pull my jacket tighter.
Then the sun broke through.
Nothing dramatic.
No sudden heat wave.
Just light.
But standing in it felt twenty degrees warmer.
Stepping back into the shade brought the chill right back.
It wasn’t subtle.
The contrast was immediate.
I know this isn’t new.
We all understand how sunlight works.
But standing there, feeling the difference in my own body, it stopped me.
Warmth wasn’t created by effort.
It wasn’t something I worked up.
It came from position.
Where I stood mattered more than what I was doing.
And it made me think about how often life feels cold not because everything is wrong, but because I’ve drifted just a few steps out of the light.
Same morning.
Same wind.
Same circumstances.
Different place.
Light changes how everything feels.
Even when nothing else changes.
So this morning, I’m asking myself a simple question.
Where am I standing right now?
