YOLO...
I grew up hearing the phrase,
You only live once.
Most of the time, it was an excuse to chase something shiny.
A reason to take a risk that felt good in the moment.
Sometimes, an excuse to do something foolish.
But somewhere along the way, I realized the meaning hangs on what comes after the dots.
You only live once,
so make it count.
Or
You only live once,
so do whatever feels good.
Those two paths take a person to very different places.
The older I get, the more I feel the pull of the first one.
The longer view.
The kind of life that echoes.
Scripture reminds me this isn’t the only life I’ll live.
This is the one that prepares me for the next.
This is where I decide what matters,
who I’ll trust,
and what I’ll leave behind.
So when I say you only live once,
I’m reminding myself to live with eternity in mind.
To choose what lasts.
To let my moments reflect the One who gave them.
Because the dots matter.
And what comes after them is a matter of life and death.
